Born in Copparo (Ferrara), Italy, 1965. Lives and works in Milan and Pontresina.

"In the midst of the fountain of wit there arises something bitter, which stings in the very flowers", Lucretius wrote in the tragic awareness possessed by many, which becomes obsession and the material of creation in poets and artists. In the work of Letizia Cariello, in particular, a profound sense of death is accompanied by fetishism of beauty. A cruel beauty, in any case: the artist stabs, hooks, hangs objects and charachters; she medicates others with bandages and tape, often slicing a formal control that simply increases, by contrast, the ferocious intensity of it all.
