Born in Tirana, 1979. Lives and works in Tirana.

Genti Korini reinterprets painting in its most reflexive and lofty version, that of modernist abstraction, taking into account the conceptual contexts of his predecessors and conceptualizing his artistic practice in its ideological dimension. The architecture of Albanian capital, Tirana, is the major visual inspiration behind Korini’s work, in which the new Albanian architecture emerges as a kind of symptomatology for the rapidly evolving ideology. His abstractions appear to be figurative while remaining abstract. They hint at the presence of material objects while simultaneously destroying the construction of space that can potentially contain an object within it. His painterly forms, surfaces and structures mobilize and challenge the viewers’ imagination, but do not provide them with ready-made answers.
